About Us

We are a vibrant, forward-looking faith community that does things a little differently. Legally established as The Compassionate Community Church Inc., we operate publicly as the Universal Community Union to reflect our deep commitment to communal solidarity, shared responsibility, and grassroots action.

Our Philosophy: Bettering the Human Condition

We believe that a moral and meaningful life isn't about escaping the world; it's about discovering the profound in the everyday human experience and actively working to lift up our global and local neighborhoods. Our organization moves away from rigid dogmas in favor of a human-centered and naturalistic worldview.

We look to the deep insights of history's greatest humanists, artists, and ethical thinkers to anchor our community programming. For us, true transcendence is found right here in the natural world—through human creativity, deep relationships, and our shared responsibility to one another.

How We Walk the Path

Our community life is dynamic, structured, and deeply collaborative. We turn our philosophy into action through a few core pillars:

  • Bi-Weekly Assemblies: We gather regularly to rotate through our core principles, engaging in open public dialogue and challenging dogmatic assumptions through rigorous critical thinking and compassionate conversation.

  • The Ten Tenets of Belief: Our shared worldview is anchored by the C.O.M.P.A.S.S.I.O.N. framework, which champions Critical Thinking, Open Inquiry, Mind & Body Stewardship, Pursuit of Happiness, Adaptation, Social Justice, Shared Community, Inclusivity, Outward Empathy, and Naturalistic Transcendence.

  • The Five Foundations: Our essential Code of Conduct ensures that our participants and leaders maintain the highest standards of Accountability & Integrity, Respect, Inquiry & Dialogue, Stewardship, and Empathy in all social actions.

  • Mutual Aid & Stewardship: We actively direct our energy toward local community care, volunteerism, and ecologically sustainable routines to protect our natural biomes for future generations.

Our Leadership and Governance

To maintain absolute institutional and personal accountability, the Universal Community Union is structured with a formal governance system. Our organization is overseen by a dedicated Board of Trustees who ensure complete transparency and ethical alignment in our financial and legal operations

Wherever you are on your personal journey—whether you are filled with certainties or carrying a heart full of doubts—your unique perspective, open mind, and questions are welcome here. Join us as we work to love this world, and one another, a little bit better every day.

These principles serve as aspirational targets for good and moral living, shaping our community assemblies and encouraging a collaborative pursuit of meaning.
